PJ Vigil 06/2009 (18th) Dedicated to Markus Ng

Tonight's vigil is dedicated to the memory of Markus Ng. One of us! One of the vigil family members!

The vigil was short and sweet. Very much like the life of our dear Markus but what an impact he made on everyone who knew him. By that same token, so does our carrying on with the vigil. I think we make more than a statement. We also make an impact by our steadfast duty to gather for those who are without a voice or an avenue out of their predicament. As "anak-anak bangsa Malaysia", we follow our conscience to stand up for those held under the I.S.A.

The police came as always.

We have come to accept them as part of the vigil panorama. I am pleased that the lady officer was courteous and allowed us ten minutes to honour Syukree and Markus and finally to sing the national anthem.
Faithfully and true to our promise, we dispersed after the short get-together, and met for a cosy chat at the now famous Lotus restaurant. So many of us have become comfortable with each other. Where we began as strangers, we are now more than friends. We are the vigil family! I am proud to be one of them!
That's all for tonight, folks. We are all still sad and weary and the struggle goes on.

Pardon me for my ignorance Lita, but can I know who is Syukree?

But I am getting to know Markus, albeit a bit too late. R.I.P Markus.

Hi Lita,

I was waiting for this post to see how it went. I'm glad to see that all was well.

How lovely that it was dedicated to Markus and Syukree. They were two anak bangsa malaysia whom we can be truly proud of.

Pat: Yes, I'm glad it ended okay despite the police presence. I think one of them followed me to my car.

Talk about a personal escort!!!! :)

Hin Lita,

Felt so good after reading your take. Had to attend to party matters last night. Yes, I feel the family atmosphere at our vigils, at Lotus & also at Fisherman's Wharf. See you next Sunday.

I heard that they got permission to arrest last nite when we were observing a minute of silence for Markus! That's why suddenly an officer use a loud hailer to call his man to surround us!

Aloysius: :) see you next Sunday!

Sanjiun: If they did have orders to arrest then it's good they restrained themselves when we ended the vigil. But anyway, sighhhhhh.

why does the good always die young???????

Zewt: The good die at any age. Some even die, unknown! Their time was up! Their purpose fulfilled! How else can we explain it!

Hi Lita,

I posted something here earlier but knowing silly me, something went wrong.

Actually I really stand with all of you who go for the vigil but I am a coward lah. I make no transport and staying far away an excuse. To be perfectly honest, the reason is that if they want to do any arresting, I will be the first to be caught cos of my wonderful size, i cannot run lah. The easiest target would be me. Actually I should be ashamed lah cos I am a Friend of Suaram......malu malu.... But I promise to be there in the very nar future. And I pray that God gives me the strength to run if I have to. I really think you are all so wonderful.
